Visionary Leadership in the Global Education

Indian higher education has undergone massive expansion post independence, since the economic liberalization of the 1990’s and the rapid economic development have witness substantial demand for higher education, for MBA education, which has paved way to private and the public institute to offer MBA. There are many autonomous MBA institute in India, of late and the government is pursuing the guidelines / policy to liberate higher education, MBA education. Education doesn’t simply means learning for earning. It means opening up human minds to think, act, explore and promote a sense of humanity, righteousness and justice. Education means to introspect and connect the inner voice for guidance. Unfortunately our colleges and universities are engaged in ROTE learning. This learning has made education a routine exercise for acquiring degree irrelevant to the needs of practical life. Learning has to be passion and inspirational transformation. Education is seen as a career option, job seeker rather than developer of management thought leader, the difference is crucial in long run. Corporate look for more performance and implementation and less buy academic qualification and training, so there is a need to develop a huge body of knowledge in management thought leaders to support the growth of industries. There has been many developments in past few years that brought the Indian MBA at par with the others in the world. It has been witness that some institute have branched off into Experiential learning so that the businesses get new recruit to be job ready from the date one. Broadly the MBA system has developed in keeping with the trend, but one serious gap is lack of management thought leaders and the development of theories and application to suit the global condition. However there is a challenge to become place where thought leadership is promoted and nurtured with the long term perspective.
