Life Without Goals Is A Journey Without A Destination

Friends I would like to start today’s morning tete-a-tete with you my dear readers by emphasizing the value and importance of goals in life. Without a goal, our life will be like a never-ending journey without a destination. We will be travelling in different directions but we do not know where we have to go finally – which is the direction which we have to choose. We don’t know because we don’t have a destination fixed for us.

In the same way, goals give meaning to our lives. We become more focused and more driven because we have something to work towards, some direction to move in, something to achieve. Goals give us drive and motivation to take those essential steps in the particular direction where you will be able to achieve your goals, or at least try to reach them.

It is not necessary that we all will reach our goals always. Many of us do not achieve what we set out to achieve. But at least the attempt at achieving the goal leaves us satisfied and motivated to keep trying. It is alright to try and fail, failure is a part of life and it is a lesson from which we learn continuously. But to not have a goal and not try to achieve it is a blunder which must be avoided at all costs.

Also goals can be anything – size or grandeur of the goal is not important. It may be the tiniest of achievements, but for you it may hold the greatest value. So each to his own as far as ear-marking your goals are concerned. We all need to have something to work towards and make our daily lives more meaningful and worthy. And as we all know, the fruit of true effort is indeed sweet.

One more point worth noting here is that there is no age limit to set goals for yourself. Irrespective whether you are in your teens or on the latter side of sixties, age is no barrier for setting and achieving personal goals and milestones. Remember, they are yours to set and yours to achieve – efforts are from you and the reward will also be for you. You can always take the help of people who are part of your life in the journey towards these goals, but ultimately it will have to be you and you alone who has to climb the last summit and conquer the target.

So friends do remember, what you get by achieving goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. Yes, the ultimate thrill and satisfaction of being a winner, a conqueror – there is nothing in this world to beat that feeling.

So don’t let anything or anyone stop you from moving ahead and setting yourself targets to achieve and then trying to achieve them in all earnest. It is the effort which matters and the sweat of true effort is what makes life worth living.
